In Europe, you can find 1,000-year-old castles – Scotland’s Brodick Castle was begun in 4AD! In the New World, something is almost considered a heritage site if it’s older than the oldest person in the neighbourhood! The plantation occupied by Mt Irvine was laid out in 1764 and has been called Mt Irvine Bay Estate since 1832! In 1985, the Yorke family bought the property and, in 2015, a fabulous upgrade was begun, to make the finest physical property in Tobago all that it should be.

At the heart of all that history is the Sugar Mill restaurant. The sugar mill housing the restaurant’s soaring vaulted ceiling under a spectacular wood-shingled roof, was built in 1862 and served the best sugar cane plantations in Tobago. Now it serves you. In the ideal tropical island restaurant, with stunning ocean views, enjoy the best of casual Caribbean cuisine featuring specials designed around the motif of, ‘fresh, local and light’. There is hardly a better vista in Tobago, morning, noon or night – and, luckily, the Sugar Mill serves breakfast, lunch and dinner.
