For 36 years now, people from North Trinidad have been eagerly driving to San Fernando just for the food at Soong’s Great Wall restaurant, the oldest family-run Chinese restaurant in Trinidad. Against the backdrop of the San Fernando Hill, the architecture mirrors the majesty of the Great Wall of China. Soong's Great Wall has remained Trinidad's definitive Chinese fine dining restaurant for two generations by following rigidly the principles and standards set up by founders Maurice & Brenda Soong. Hong Kong chefs prepare every meal meticulously, world-class service by devoted waitstaff at table enhances the fine dining experience and the whole process is closely supervised by the Soong family. With the second generation having learnt from the founders to treat every customer royally, you might call Soong's Great Wall a "dynasty of excellence". Soong’s reputation has certainly spread across the Caribbean and worldwide. Chinese food in Trinidad, infused with local flavours, is better than Chinese food anywhere else – and Soong’s Great Wall remains its benchmark.
