Lisa Johnstone designed Taste Vinoteca as an escape from modern clutter and clatter to the elegant comfort of Old World wines painstakingly selected to complement the equally thoughtful menu of Euro-Mediterranean small plates developed by Lisa and head chef, Dwight Licorish. Taste Vinoteca has won its loyal gourmet customer base through intimate, warm professional service, with knowledgeable waitstaff recommending choices and pairings adroitly. Taste Vinoteca lunch includes terrific café salads and luxury sandwiches built around the core tapas menu but dinner is the true Taste Vinoteca experience: a quiet night out that settles the spirit, delights the senses and leaves you happy to be alive – and to have chosen Taste! Friday nights are Taste’s busiest, with evening guests eager for their favourite sangria before sundown. Saturdays draw more serious diners and, on the first Sunday of every month, Taste’s “boozy brunch” creates the happiest diners in Trinidad between 10.30am and 2pm; we would suspect those bottomless wine cocktails as the basis of Taste’s popularity if we weren’t so keen on the tapas! The discerning crowd has followed the first, dinner-only Taste Vinoteca from its original pop-up site at One Woodbrook Place to Taste’s purpose-designed dining rooms at Maraval Plaza. Taste is perfect for intimate cocktail receptions in Maraval.
